JANE HINTON: Bridges - An Artist's View: Survey Exhibition
On Saturday, September 25th, 2021 Mira Godard Gallery was pleased to open a survey exhibition of photographs by JANE HINTON. This is Hinton’s first solo exhibition since her passing in May 2020.
JANE HINTON (1936-2020) was born in 1936 in Victoria, BC and raised in Toronto. She studied drawing and painting at St. Martin's College of Art in London, England and later at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. JANE HINTON lived and worked in Toronto.
JANE HINTON's knowledge of classical and contemporary art became the foundation for her experimentation with the camera and the development of her unique multi-framed images. Her lifelong facination with photographing bridges took her around the world and produced a striking body of work. Many of these photographs are featured in this survey exhibition.
JANE HINTON travelled with her camera throughout France, Spain, Italy, England, Scotland, Finland, Canada and the United States. She exhibited internationally and her work is found in numerous collections around the world including A. F. Philips Collection, Eindhoven, Holland; Helmet Gernsheim Collection, Switzerland; Museum of Fine Art, Houston; Southeast Missouri Regional Museum; Bennett Jones, Toronto; Emprise Bank, Wichita, Kansas; Fidelity Investments, Boston and Toronto; RBC Dominion Securities, Toronto and TD Bank Financial, Toronto.
